how does jdm key work with immobilizer?
does the immobilizer work by making a metal contact with the metal on the jdm key?
or does it emit some sort of a signal?
i'm guessing it (the immobilizer chip) only has to make contact with the metal on the key.
can you enlighten me?

It doesn't have to make contact with anything; it just has to be positioned in the key head in the same relative position as in the stock key. The immobilizer emits nothing -- it's just read by the ECU through the ignition system, I think. You might want to check these threads:
