Default How Effective is the Rear Window Defroster?

I have an '06 w/51k. From what I can tell the rear window defroster works, just not very well. I can see only a little defogging along the wires in the rear window by the time it shuts off? I'm not sure if my defroster needs work or if they just aren't very effective?

Not sure, I've had my car 13 years and never turned it on.

Thanks for the info. Guess I'll have to get out my meter and check the voltage. I haven't tried it on actual frost or fog, just dew on the window.

I think most defrosters are pretty ineffective against dew. They're great if your glass is rear glass is fogged and what not, but that's because it has to heat up a lot less moisture. I keep a small squeegee in my trunk so I can use it to remove the condensation in the morning.

I've never owned a drop-top before, but my previous cars never had a problem with dew? If dew is a problem, I guess that ice is completely out of the question?

The defroster works great for frost and condensation for me, though I don't need to use it more than once or twice a year where I live.
