How the F did this happen!?
So a couple days ago, I was grabbing lunch. It was a really nice day, so I decided to go top down...
I was lowering my top...... and it just stopped a bit further than halfway. No noise, no nothing, just stopped. So I started to close it back up and noticed this:

Its a rip on the inside... But notice where it is... I have no clue HOW that could have happened!
Sure, rips above latches caused by faulty owners not closing the latch all the way is one thing... But this is a really odd location - what could have done this!?
The car is an 05, so warranty is done. The top was replaced in 06 due to a theif cutting the original and I dont think warranty extends from that point... even if it did, its probably done too.
AARGH!! Has this happened to anyone else before?

How does a top 'wear' like this? Its not like slowly over time, a place that creases often starts to wear.....
This was the top actually stopping (malfunction) and resulting in a tear....
I know the tops are cheap, its a Honda but damn... Just makes me sad...

Alot of peoplel have these problems, if u use ur top all the time its gonna wear out. These tops are so cheap anyways, thats an easy fix. Good luck!
That happened a month ago to mine in the exact same spot on the driver's side. If there's not alot of frays sticking out on the top side, the fix is very simple, effective and CHEAP
1) clean the underside with mild soap and water to remove dust, dirt etc
2) $1.50 iron on black patch from wal-mart and superglue to make it waterproof
3) custom cut your patch and use the superglue to hold it in place. iron on your cut-to-fit patch from the underside, press for like 30 seconds. make sure you use an old shirt or handkerchief or something between the iron and the patch or it'll melt your top a little bit.
If you decide to iron one uptop, it will match....but it'll look kinda ghetto. I'd just cut whatever frays are sticking out up top with a nail clipper and call it a day.
good luck
