Default How Fast "Should" You Drive in the Rain

I've had my share of freakish experiences driving in heavy rain, but luckily nothing serious has happened yet. I've learned to humble my 'S ego' that I have in good dry conditions when driving in the rain (and snow, but we won't go here).

I guess to make this informative we need to consider two things: tires and amount of precipitation. Last night we had about 20mm of rain in just a span of 3-4 hours. I was going 44mph max on the freeway running kumho MX (about 85% left in front and 65% in the rear)

Uhhhhhhhhhhhhh....................

Is it me, or does this question and development remind any of Patrick Star?

Assuming this is not a Crown Royal-induced thread, I would suggest that "prudently" is a good answer. Each car is different in terms of weight distribution, wear of suspension, alignment, tire condition, and most important of all, driver skill. I do not drive this car in the rain - that is why God made Subarus IMO.

Given the other threads I've seen, perhaps you should have titled this, "How SLOW should you drive in the rain?"

prudently, i agree.

the thread title should've been 'how SLOW should you drive your S in the rain' if it makes any difference this was one thing, however, i was looking for on the forum when i first bought this car to get some rough idea as a newbie rwd driver. one incident i had last year involved spinning the car on the freeway after going over a large puddle at 60mph on 50% rear s02s. i was going about 10-15 mph below the flow of traffic and i thought i was leaving myself enough of a safety margin for puddles. clearly not enough as i should've been going well below 60mph. luckily nothing serious happened, just a scared shitless driver and passenger.

i know for fact that until i bought this car i was more oblivious driving in heavy rain (and driving in general) in my old protege. i guess by having some numbers it would emphasize how careful you actually have to be to stay safe if you have to drive in these types of conditions.

btw, who's patrick star???

Well.....I still have stock S02s with plenty of tread left, and NEVER drive over 50mph in the rain. I also drive only in 6th on the highway just to make sure my car isnt too sensitive to throttle applications. Ive never had an issue with traction with this method. Some may disagree, but it works for me, and thats all that matters.

driving in the rain all depends on the roads, and condition. i usually stay under the speed limit, and keep the car a gear higher than normal just to be safe. its really hard to lose the ego in the rain driving the s2000.

i find that my s will spin very easily in the rain as opposed to a front driver like my volvo s70T5. so i take it easy and am aware of the tendency when it rains. other than that it drives well in the rain, safe and sound and dry.

Be careful of oil, gravel, and other slippery substances on the road with the S02's.

Drive carefully and slowly in rain or any other slippery conditions in this car-PERIOD.
