Thank God I live in So. Cal and not worry too much with our brief rainy season, but even still I don't drive above 50mph and I am extremely careful around turns.

Sensible posts!

It can be a bit irritating to say the least to see more forgiving mundane transport bombing past you in the wet but that's just it, they're driving far more forgiving vehicles. The very real danger with the S IMO is hitting standing water at any speed, particularly on SO2s - aquaplaning is a very real danger, due to a combination of the very wide tyres and the almost racing slick- like nature of the SO2s . The tread depth and pattern simply can't shift sufficient amounts of water.

Sensibly reducing your speed is the only thing to do. The comment about driving in a higher gear than normal was also right on the money.

I read about all these "I spun threads" makes you REALLY REALLY wonder.

Alfredo, I was driving from Syracuse to Ottawa yesterday in the rain you speak of, I was doing 115km/h there was no issue. My tires are "good" not new S02's Car felt stable.

I think a lot of it has to do with the tires. The stock S02's are not good in the wet... notice I didn't say rain, I said wet. My stock S02 is about 2-3 mm off of the wear bar. Coming home from the track, I ran into a patch of road where it was wet... no standing water, just wet... well I guess there might have been 1 mm? How knows... anyways, the back end started to dance... damn tires.

1- Get better rain tires.
2- Drive slow and steady - no sudden jerks/etc.
3- Get better rain tires.
4- Don't try to compete with the rest of the trafic, drive at speeds you're comfortable with. It's hard to give numbers but if you must insist, how about at least 10 mph slower than the rest of the trafic?
5- Get better rain tires.

as fast as is needed so as not to get wet when you get caught with the roof down. this is ~ 40mph

(got caught out again today and every light I hit was a green!)

note to myself: do the mod that bypasses the speed sensor!!!

I think the S03's are by far more dangerous in rain

off topic but just got re050a last week. same tread rating as s02's but check out those grooves. looks like it'll do well in the rain.
