Default how to get a racing stripe

Hey all:

I want to get a black double racing stripe, like on this Ford GT:

but black.

Do I need to get a paint job, or can I get away with a decal?

How much would this kind of thing cost?

Thanks!

The ones I've seen are Vinyl, and the widow tint/decal shops here do them. The cool part about Vinyl is you can take it off when you ge bored with it.

Adhesive vinyl is the way to go. You have to be careful with putting it one (air bubbles, for example) but it'll stay on until you deliberately peel it off. It's what just about everybody uses for track day numbers. No paint damage at all.

If it's on for years you can have the paint fade around the Vinyl, but you can peel it off, use some adhesive remover and wax over it. Red does seem to be the paint color that fades the worst due to sunlight. Iv'e seen more pink Preludes and Integra's than I care to remember.

Thanks for the info!

Can I take off my "H" honda badge and put it back on over the vinyl like the "Ford" badge in the GT pic, or will I just have to go without my front "H"?

Can I wax (zaino) over the vinyl stripes? Can I put the vinyl stripes on over my 3 coats of zaino, or should I remove the zaino first?

I love this board. Ask a question, go out for a quick drive, come back and you got answers.

I'd pull the "H" 1st, stripe the car, then reinstall the "H". I Think you can wax over it, you just have to be careful about the edges. I don't know on the Zaino, You might have to use a wax remover to get the vinyl to stick. Find someone local that has a Civic with a bunch of Vinyl stickers and ask where they had it done. The shop should be able to tell you more on waxing over the vinyl.

Here is my S2000 with vinyl stripes just for reference. I used a high grade vinyl and when removing it about 1 year later found no damage to the paint.
