How hard is it to close your hood ??
Funny, but I had a problem closing my hood after opening it up to to some cleaning.
Couldn't get that thing to close for the life of me. I always drop it to shut, never push. 1 foot drop - nope. 2 foot drop - nope. Jeez I don't wanna hurt it! 2 feet again, again. Uh oh. Whats going on?
NO HELM'S MANUAL, saturday afternoon before a big meet, on my way to get the fluids changed.
Had to put on my thinking cap. After some investigation of the latching system, I figured out enough to loosen the three bolts that secure the spring/latch mechanism mounted to the car (not the hood). By loosening them, you can see the plate has slotted adjustments to move up and down.
My initial adjustment was too high. Hood closes easily, but with a 1/4" gap at the front of the car. Lowering the latch adjustment brought the hood down flush to the body, and I can close the hood like normal.
I was very pleased with myself to be able to solve this on my own - minor as it was. I'm sure it would have cost my $75-100 for Honda to adjust.
So.......don't drop your hoods from more than a foot or so. Make a simple adjustment (10mm socket) and it will be smooth as silk.

From Modifry's site:
Is your hood hard to close?
Mine was. I had to drop it from 2 - 3 feet high to get it to close, and that seemed a little excessive. I then noticed the front edge of the hood was slightly lower than the front bumper cover, so I figured it was adjusted too low and was compressing the rubber gasket too much, making it hard to close.
So I yanked out my trusty 10mm socket and adjusted the hood latch up about 1/8", and now the hood is level with the bumper and closes much easier too. The photo shows the 3 bolts to loosen if you need to adjust your hood.

I noticed if I am standing to the side somewhat it doesn't want to close easily. But if I put my hand right where the latch normally closes and drops it, it closes it much easier.
I don't understand why you gotta drop it. Just put it down, then press on it with both hands. It's a nice and caring way to close your hoods, especially since it's aluminum. Oh, unless you have a bunch of rings on your fingers like me, use your fingers to press it down.
You can easily dent your hood by pressing it with two hands since it is aluminum. Some idiot made the mistake on my Civic and I have a nice little dent.
Dropping it is much safer.

My friend own a body shop and told me to never push down on the hood. Because when you do that it might creates waves if you push to often or to hard. I drop my hood always about 6 inches that what he recommended. Except of my carbon fiber hood.
