I usually drop mine from between waist height to chest height, and it always closes. Guess I'll try dropping it from a lower height in the future.

Funny....my dealer told me how to close it....hold it at about 10" or so and let it drop.

But then, he also told me about the "secret compartment" and where the fuel filler door release was. From reading this forum, it sounds like he was the only dealer in the country that knew this stuff.

On the other hand, he didn't know there was a break-in period. I told him about it after I read the manual. Oh well...

I remember reading about how to close the hood on an S2000 a year before I bought it. It's considerably lighter than my MR2 hood. The next time I get my oil changes, I will be very aware of how they are going to close the hood and am going to remind them before they do.

Thanks for the help. I'm a new owner and new to this forum. I had a problem in dropping the hood and used to "gently" push it closed using as much surface area of my hands to distribute the pressure evenly. This does leave a mess on the hood, however.

Using the search feature, and thanks to your advise, I turned the rubber bumpers about 1 1/2 turns to the right and now it closes perfectly from about 6 - 8"s.
