Default How hard is it to install brake lines??

I have some brake lines I want to install, but haven't attempted yet. How hard is it?? do I need to get it professionally done??

I don't really know how to, but was planning on experimenting, does anybody happen to have instructions?? Thanks in advance.

You should have the right tools (flare wrench) and use caution as the line fittings are made from very soft material.

Lines are easy. It's actually a lot easier than it looks! take your time and don't rush the job though.

Make sure you completely drain the old fluid first and wrap the suspension with material to stop any brake fluid splashing around. I used vice grips to remove the spring clip that holds the line to the body. You just have to relieve the tension on the loop part to be able to pull the clip off.

If you don't have them already, I would thoroughly recommend getting a set of Speedbleeders for the calipers too. Makes the job SO much easier if you are doing it by yourself.

Good luck.

My advice is get someone else to do it. I stripped the outside of a flare nut doing mine, the nut is seized. I offer this advice in hindsight.

I did it with the help of a friend. The brake fluid is very corrosive to wax (car and floor) so have a bucket and towels around. It didn't take to long and it was helpful with the second person when we drained the lines to replace the fluid with synthetic.
