Default How to install center console cover

Hey guys I just purchased a center console cover from an 03 and was wondering if there was any way to install it without removing the dashboard? And also do I have to take the carpet out or just put it on top? It looks like theres no way that I can put the cover under the side panels and under the radio. I already took the radio door out.

You don't have to do that.

Just remove the center console (where the ebrake is). Disconnect the hazard and top switches and the shift knob. Then you lay the cover down over the carpet.

It is a little tricky to get the flaps under the sides. But you don't have to remove the radio or the dash. The hardest part is getting it to slide under the radio on the side. But there is very little that has to go under. I just used an old credit card.

Also, it is a little easier if you take out your seats. But you don't have to. I didn't.

since you bought an oem one i think you have to take out the carpet and you may have to remove some of the panels behind the seats

there's no way to remove the carpet without removing the dashboard. it runs all the way to the firewall. I've already bent 3 credit cards trying to slide this thing in there but there's just no progress what so ever

Are you trying to replace the carpet in the center? Or did you buy a leather cover?

If you are looking to replace the carpet piece, then you have to remove the dash to do it. And probably the glove box / secret compartment.

But if you bought a leather cover, you don't have to remove anything except the actual plastic center console. The leather part installs right over the carpet.

If that is the case, you shouldn't have to remove the dash or anything. Just the plastic center console part.

It takes a little bit of work to get under the radio. It for sure isn't easy. Especially the driver's side. But I got mine in, and I still have the factory carpet under it.

Like I said, it is a little easier if you take out the seats. But you don't have to.

I have replaced my center carpet with an OEM vinyl cover. To make it look right you have to remove the carpeted area. However, the last 5 inches behind the radio cannot be removed easily. There is a post behind the dash that goes through the carpet. I cut the carpet sides in this area and pulled out the old piece. Using the carpet as a template you can then trim the OEM vinyl to the same size and install as discussed above. Unless you put your head in the footwells, you will not see the cut. BTW, the OEM cover stitching matches well with the seats. But, the 02-03 red is a little different than the 00-01 red.
