My logic tells me the oil life should read 100% after a fresh oil change
You have to reset the oil life indicator. To do this you press the trip button until the oil life is displayed, press and hold the trip button for more than 10 sec. until the engine oil life and maintenance item code(s) blink, then release the button.
Now press and hold the trip button again for more than 5 sec. the item code(s) disappear and the engine oil life resets to 100%

I will bet you they did not reset the oil life indicator when they changed your oil.
I run 7k to 8k on my oil(but I take 6 qts. to do my oil and filter change).

Thanks for all the responses guys. Great info on how to reset the oil life meter, they def. did not do this after my last oil change.

Again, I am seeing a lot of conflicting information here. 7k seems to be the going rate for full synthetic. This leads me to believe that every 5k with a synthetic blend should hold up without any issues. Am I correct in my assumption?

I'm in the 5000-7500 mile camp. Many times it's not the oil but the filter that sets the limit on oil changes and what's the use of changing filters without changing the oil.

IMO,Oil is cheap...engines are not.If you do want to go long between changes, use the Amsoil AZO 0W-30 oil and the Amsoil EA 15k20 oil filter. It's rated for 15k miles.

7000 miles between oil changes using a Honda OEM oil filter and Valvoline Max Life Synthetic Blend 10W30. Less than $30 for the parts needed and a little over a half hour to do it myself (between jacking up and letting down during the change and leaving it to drain).

There's no one-size-fits-all answer if that's what you mean by setting the record straight. If you want to set it straight for your car and your driving then get a UOA.

5K should be easy.

Milage is one thing what is your guys take on age? I normally drive my S about 2000kms a yr (summer car) not my daily. If you are not hitting the desired milage before an oil change after how long do you change the oil?

I change mine in the spring before I insure the car once again.

BTW I run mobile 1 if ti makes a difference.

Thanks,

6000 miles on full synthetic. I just let the maintenance light remind me.

It totally depends on how you drive the car but 5,000 miles on conventional or synthetic these days is perfectly fine on daily driven cars. The weak link is actually the oil filter as it starts to flow less as it loads up with contaminants over time.

I run Mobil 1 and go 5,000 miles +/- 500 miles which ends up only being about once per year since I have 4 other vehicles.
