there isn't a month where i get stopped when someone ask what year, how many miles, and are you the original owner. most recently an older gentlemen followed me all the way to a parking lot in his IS-F to ask if i would consider selling, which caught me and the wife off guard cause the top was down and he started with, "man i followed you for 5 miles". even after hearing my miles of 185k and that ive had her since 2 miles he offered $20k (cashiers check). he said its getting harder and harder to find a clean (non modified) original owned S2000.
don't know how many of you are still left, but she's been great with no major mechanical issues since 2006. changed oil every 10k with mobil 1 synthetic starting at 1000 miles, and every 45k a full system flush of tranny (honda mtf), diff (mobil1 syn), brake and coolant. only other maintenance items were valve adjustments, replaced all 4 shocks with oem at 160k cause the left rear was leaking, the hex bolt leak and rear wheel axle nut. only non oem on the car has been the robbins top that's 2 years old and new seats with red stitching that was done at the same time.
i was doing about 16-18k a year and i knew i couldn't keep doing that for another 10 years so i got a new daily cause i have no plans in selling. i drive her now only on the weekends and since april i've only put 2000 miles. i start her in the garage every few days and drive her twice a week which makes the experience that much more enjoyable when i do, and not that i didn't before because there is nothing that comes close to sitting and driving an S2000 ive found. there is no past or current car that comes close.
Please send this guy my way. If he was willing to pay $20k for a 185k miles car, I'll gladly toss him the keys to my clean, stock 54k miles car for $24k, maybe less. I am still a bit baffled when people say they can't find clean, stock examples. Every time I check Cargurus, the S2kI classifieds or BAT there are beautiful examples available with low miles and there is a new one every week on BAT. Now there may not be any good examples in a person's particular area but where I live I'm used to that and plan accordingly. I'm actually more surprised lately by the number of nice examples that people are selling.

Yours looks amazing for 185k BTW.
don't know if he was being totally serious but to follow us for 5 miles he must've been. left out a few things out in my post during our 5 minute conversation which i think is what sold him on my car. also for 185k based on the eyeball test my S is pretty mint. yes there's some road rash on the front bumpers but nothing excessive, no license plate screw (parking) rashes to wheel curb rashes, and no dings. he was also looking at the interior particularly the driver seat and the leather had no wear on the side and thigh bolsters which i told him i had redone.
i agree with the area part. in socal i'll see an S2000 about once a week and its true a good 90% i see have been lightly modded or severely modded. i know if it were me it would be a turn off even if i was 20 years younger. for someone to see a stock S2000 is rare out here and i guess that's why i'll get the occasional stops and they're usually guys over 50 and 60 it seems.
I have an 05 I've had since new. Where I live it's only a summer car so 70k miles in 12 summers. Have had it all over the eastern half of the country. Have had many other cars but I doubt I'll ever sell this one.
