For those that payed for them 100% on you own,
For the rest,

Spoon feeding children is a contribution to social ignorance!!!!

I somewhat disagree, because a 20k+ car is a lot to work for by yourself in highschool. You can't work a fulltime job due to school, and you're probably not old enough to work at a high paying place. I don't see anything wrong with your parents helping you out, as long as you aren't being stuck up and conceited about having it around your friends.

I think if your able to pay for your S, insurance, and gas and all that good shit, then you deserve it (doesn't necessarily mean you should be driving one) I bought mine at 17 and have paid for everything myself, I dont think I've ever asked my mom for money after I turned 16 and got my first job. Even when she offers to try to help pay with something I decline because shes already done enough for me and I dont need to be mooching off her. I saw way too many kids at my high school getting their new cars handed to them and they just seem to have no respect for them (always trying to act hard in front of their peers, doing burnouts and just treated them like shit) I dont think any of these kids will ever appreciate the shit they've been handed to them until they have to pay for it themselves. Some of these kids think they deserve it for getting good grades and stupid shit like that. They should be getting good grades because they want to have a better future, not to roll around in a new car.

But what can you do about it. Some parents are just too naive. No kid needs a car this nice unless they can afford it. I feel its the parents fault, of course the kid is going to want a new car because they dont look at it from any other perspectives, parents shouldnt just give in the way they do to please their kids.

When I see a hs kid in an s2k, it lowers the value of the car in my head. I bought this car to ESCAPE from that class of society. Now its like I can't get away!

If you don't mind me asking, exactly what kind of job and how many hours were you working to be able to afford a s2000 by yourself at 17? How can you possibly keep your grades up if you were to be working all the time?

I mean I bow my head to anybody in highschool that actually bought their own S, but it's highly unlikely?

OHHH myyyy jeeeesus

Kids in highschool with an S?
Wooow, where I came from is waaay different.
No one owned a car over 5K at my highschool.
I had the bus and my parents to take me to school.
When I didnt have a ride, I had a 4 mile damn walk one way.

Didn't get my own car untill after highscool.
1992 Prelude s, got a co-sign from a buddies sister.
All expense's paid by me (on loan, gas, maintenace, insurance).
Not a year later I traded it in for the S.
Funnier story is, they appraised it at the same balance left on my loan

Mind you, everything that involved getting my S was solely my own actions.
Nagotiated with the dealer by laughing at all payment options (no lie, felt great)
Come on, 610 a month for 48 moonths!??
Settled for 562 a month, what can I expect for such an early credit score.
But good enough to avoid co-signing. I have a steady payment history of 575 a month already for 6 months going on 7.
On top of that is insurance and gas plus a monthly oil change.

Anywho, everything that keeps this car in my posession is INTIRELY backed by my financial state and income. Gas, maintenance, payments, insurance and deffinatly detailing.

One thing a person probably won't do, when given a car such as this, is take care of it and appreciate it.
Because they will have no idea of the resposibilities involved in owning such a vehicle.
My 2 cents.

But at least you got bragging rights now

I had very easy classes my senior year, so grades werent a problem at all.

And I've worked at Bank of America since I was 16. And I just seem to keep moving up, though this is not where I want to stay. But while I'm young(and in school) this job job is perfect for me and I can fully support myself with it. I could move out right now if I wanted to, but I dont plan on doing that for about another year, I want to save up some money in case of a rainy day before I do move out. I've already got a pretty good start right now.
