A dealer told me this so it could be b.s.
But
Honda sends dealers s2000s based on volume sales. So having an S2000 delivered to a dealership is basically a reward to dealers that do well. *S2000s sell themselves right? I mean who here has every been pressured to buy one?*
The more you sell, the more often an S is delieverd to your dealership. Make any sense? I don't know...

Honda originally said they would only produce 5,000/year for the US market. As you can see from the numbers posted, they didn't stick to their plan.

... however many it is, it's too many - you guys must be getting all of ours too!

By the time my S2000 (hopefully) arrives, it'll be six months since it was ordered. And I'll have missed the only two rain-free days we have in the North of England.

Honda Corp never said it would be a limited 5,000 production run and they never said it would be a limited 2-year run.

Honda said it would be a limited production car in the sense that it's handbuilt along-side the NSX in a small plant with limited capacity. They said that 5,000 of the 12,000 annual production would be sent to the US. As it turns out this went higher than predicted. And now they are saying 8,000 is the target for this year.

Honda NEVER said it would be a two-year run. In fact, early magazines reported it would probably be a 4 to 6 year run. . . but there are no guarantees it wouldn't be less or longer.

Clearly misinformed or misleading Honda salesman have made incorrect or lying statements....
