I was just wondering how many units were built for the US regarding the AP1's and AP2's ??? I am abot to pick up a 06 Rio yellow and I was wondering if Honda made a limited run for the last year model run???

 

I've asked this question on several occasions. Although sales numbers give you a rough estimation of how many were built year to year, it doesn't reflect the actual amount manufactured in each model year.

I have a very late 2002, perhaps even the last one built for 2002.


As far as limited run for '06....doubt it heavily. Certainly no official press release indicating it.

 

Honda sells between 12-14k S2000s per year to NA. Of those, 50% are the silvers, and the remaining 50% are the other colors. Figure 700-1k Rios in any given year. Then look at particular model combos, and you have identical Rios (AP2/black int) for three years now(04-06), so 3k total maybe.

 

there will be an 07. honda has already officially released the color schemes for it.

And '06 is certainly not the last model year for the S2000.
A total of 53,893 S2000s have been sold. 35,438 prior to Sep 2003, 18,455 after and inlcuding Sep 2003. (Not really a valid breakdown of AP1 vs AP2, but the best I can do and probably works as a rough estimate anyway.)
