Default How much would a new block cost?

Not saying I need one yet all you turbo-naysayers! But I am just curious. If I do go with a built motor, I may attempt to push this one to the limit to see what the stock block can hold up to. Though I don't really know about that, it would suck to just throw away a $_ grand piece of equipment, just for knowledge's sake.

Chris,

I don't believe Honda will sell just the block casting. Normally you have to get a fully assembled block (crank/rods/pistons and block). Considering that a bare cylinder head for this car goes for $1250 or so, I think you could expect to pay at least $3000 for the block, and maybe as much as $5k.

Best bet is to call up the sponsors here (hondaacura parts or something) and ask them.

I'd find yourself a salvage drivetrain. Engine, tranny and diff, would come in handy. Actually you might just want to buy a whole wreck and part out the bits you don't need to help defer costs. I'm assuming you have the space.

Internet price for the shortblock is $2121.21 at Majestic Honda.

I'd say do it, get Endyn to build some cutom rollerwave pistons for it matched to a set of their rods. Talk to Larry Widmer and see if he would be willing to do them for you. You should also try out the folks at Crower to get some custom turbo cams made to your spec. They would need a set of cores to weld up and then grind, so you can retain the base circle diameter.

It's only money.

UL et al...when my engine was replaced, they did the long block. And the shipment came in two separate boxes, which I saw in person, so Honda does ship this motor out as a long or a short block. Other Honda engines may come as fully assembled long blocks, but not this one...

But I don't know the cost on the block, etc...check a sponsor for that. I would suggest talking to Trevor at www.handaaccessories.com ...

And I'm not a turbo-naysayer!
