Sounds like you are a conservative driver that spends quite a bit of time commuting listening to the stereo. No desire for more speed, handling, or desire to track the car. So why the hell would you be looking at this car? You won

I was waiting for at least one smart ass to reply like that Im looking at the car because I want another Honda and I dont want a boring Civic or Accord. I'd like a convertible and something that looks as nice as the S2000 does. Perhaps I will want to drive more aggressively with this car, but maybe not. What I wanted was to see how many people own the car and DONT drive it like its the Indy 500.

I'm actually surprised that I didnt get a thread full of guys like you telling me I have no business owning the car, simply because I don't think the Fast & The Furious was the greatest movie ever made.

Thanks for the post though Maybe I will buy the car and drive it like a Civic....just to piss off guys like you

I never outlined any requirements whatsoever for my car purchase, other than saying I'd like another Honda. I certainly never said I wanted "something quiet, comfortable, and automatic with a good stereo."

The other cars that I have driven (the Audi TT and the BMW Z4) were great to drive but they have traction control systems that this car doesn't have. I was mostly curious what kind of a factor that would be, since I've never owned a car like this and wasn't sure if I really need those features, given my driving habits. I opted not to get the TT because I have heard too many problems with the car from owners and both the Z4 and the TT are a lot more money than the S2000. Sure, they have more creature comforts, but at $33k, the S2000 (with its Honda quality) began to look really appealing to me. I think its a better looking car than the Z4 anyway

I wanted to hear some replies from people with driving habits that dont involve redlining the engine and dropping the clutch at every stoplight. I was pretty sure many people dont drive it that way and wanted to know how happy they were with driving the car more conservatively. Its hard to separate "locker room talk" from the speed demons and reality, so I was looking for more info.

If the car was an emotional purchase, it would be in my garage right now, so clearly its not

If you do get the S2000 and keep it a few years, and keep it well maintained, let me know when it comes time to get rid of it, I just may be interested!

I really don't mean to be trollish, but...

In the first year+ after release, there were many posts here about drivers being caught unawares and spinning when in non-enthusiast mode. That is, going around turns at relatively normal speeds, encountering water (or sometimes, no obious reason apparent). Conventional wisdom here has been: tires must be replaced before too old, dangerous when cold, watch out for any standing water. Haven't seen many such posts lately. Have drivers become educated? Has the car been tamed with the reputed '02 suspension mods? Basically, is this still a concern?

To the original poster: I would also recommend test driving a Miata. As reliable, as fun, less expensive, less intimidating.
