How to protect top on '04?
Hey everyone,
New S2000 owner here, just picked up an '04 with 17,000 miles on it. I am well aware of the problem with the top and the wear/tear that can occur from the latches. I have done some searches but can't find anything definitive, so I wanted to ask what I can do to prevent any tears from occurring on the top? Can I add a layer of fabric or vinyl in the vulnerable areas?
Thanks for your help!

slip some sticky felt between the metal bar and the canvas. stick some sticky felt on any metal surface where you think would touch the canvas.
inspect and replace the sticky felt from time to time.
Ive done this and the top goes up and down at least 4 times a day. I think so far so good.

Follow the attached TSB and file down the specified areas. Also make sure that if your elastic straps are "loose" to replace them with modifry replacements or make sure to push the cross bar back as the top goes down (this will prevent holes where the latches are)
