I used a 3-pound sledge and a cold chisel - Shit came right off

Sorry, I couldn't resist. To answer your question - I've got no clue but I'm sure others will offer the correct advice.

there's not much to it. there are 2 plasic coverings in the top of the guage cluster, pop the caps out with a screw driver, and then inscrew the phillips head screw from each, and then pull the whole thing forward and it snaps out, then reach around the back and unplug the wiring harnesses, and then take it out, and unscrew the head/stereo/guage units and screw them into the new trim, and then put the trim back in. you have a bunch of clips to line up so it will take a while, you'll have to play with it to get it back in, and its a tight fit. i had to take off the plastic cover on the top of the steering column (just snaps in) because there is a steel bar at the bottom you have to get the whole thing to slide into and you can't see it unless you take off the cover ontop of the steering column. if you need pictures, let me know

Squeezer, don't you loosen a few bolts and lower the steering shaft to get the top cover off the steering column? I know I had a heck of a time trying to do this once....

Yeah, we're talking about the same piece - the black cover on top. Problem is, the back of it is turned up behind the trim he's trying to remove. I couldn't pull mine free for fear of breaking it. Lowering the steering column gave it the clearance it needed.
