How to remove a overtightened oil filter

I can normally just get them with my hands...I tighten the filter atleast if not more then a half turn past contact

maybe someone can help me with this problem. my s seems to be losing oil. i cant figure it out where though. this time around im going to be doing the oil change myself to make sure it is done right.

By stabbing your oil filter with a screwdriver to turn it you're releasing the harmful metal shavings back into your engine

ive yet to find an oil filter that i cant get off with my bare hands...then again im 6'3 250lbs. lol

true works great! plus even if the filter is hot after a drive dosent matter

uhhh.. i tightened my filter up till i couldent turn it anymore with my hand...does it get tighter after time or somethin? i mean...its not commin off with vibration...

...Except that I don't run the car with the stabbed oil filter, so the shavings are trapped inside the old oil filter, which I'm throwing away.

When I have to resort to that, I get the fattest, longest, roundest screwdriver I can find so I'll not only have leverage, but the shape of the screwdriver is less likely to just shear through the metal of the filter and leave me with half on the car and half on the ground in a puddle of oil.
