Craigslist offers zero buyer protection, you are rolling the dice if you do not check the car out in person and get it inspected. I drove out of state to get mine which I initially found through a craigslist ad (though only ~250 miles one way), and it paid off in the end as I met a very nice and honest seller with a super clean car.
