Hey whats up guys?! i just recently got into an accident with my rsx, some car switched into my lane and i tried avoiding him to switch into the other lane and i lost control and spun around into the side of the freeway im not sure if he hit me or not i was knocked unconcsious. but anyways im pretty sure the insurance are going to total my car, because air bags went off and everything. does the s2000 have front and side airbags? does anybody have a website that shows how safe these cars are? because i dont think my parents want to get me another small car like the rsx, and the s2000 is smaller, but i love this car! so im gonna try to convince my dad to get me an s2000 but i want to show him like crash tests or whatever showing how safe this car is! any help would be great! thanks guys!!! hopefully ill be posting here more often in the future if i can convince them to get me one of these with my insurance money, i just dont want to end up with a sedan or some suv or something like that, so any sites showing how safe these are it would be awesome! thanks guys!

The X-bone frame of the S2000 is amazing. I've seen some crash-test footage that makes you proud! And the handling is amazing.

The flip side of this, dc5, is that the car is inherently fast, and you have to look deep inside yourself to know whether or not you can resist the temptation that it offers.

I love my car with a passion. But, I have from time to time caught myself doing some stupid stuff. And I've been driving cars for a loooooong time.

So, that's my take. The car is built great, but the nature of a sports car is that it'll coax you to do unsafe things unless you have the right attitude behind the wheel.

Not to offend you in anyway, but how old are you that you need to ask your parents anyways. No disrespect, but the insurance cost on this car for anyone under 25 is outrageous. That alone will probably keep your parents from allowing you to get one. The RSX's insurance cost is a drop in the bucket compared to the S2K. I am 29 now, clean record, married and 1 kid, with a 2000 Suburban, 2002 A4 Avant, and the S2K. I costs me $265.00/mos to insure all 3 cars full coverage and covered up the wazoo from Farmers. I tried to add my younger sister now 24, clean record to the S2K as a partime driver and the wanted to charge $125.00/mos just on that car alone. It is currently listed as a secondary car, Recreational vehicle. So, unfortunately she can't drive it. As for safety, it is a safe car. Very race car like from the footages of crash tests. The cockpit area is very secure, the remainder is designed to break away. As dc5Racer said, the X-bone is amazing..... Only 2 front airbags, no side. So as far as safety is concerned, it is first rate, but you have to take insurance cost into consideration before taking the big leap into this car. The demons will get to you from time to time, and it is up to the driver to ward them off. I have had little punks pulling forward and drift back to try to entice me into dragging/racing with them, but I love this baby too much to treat it that way. This coming from a guy that smoked a lot of the little punks with the Sub...... Anyways, if you can get one, you will not regret it, but there is a lot to pay to have one an keep one....

 

Im 20... 1 incident ... needless to say my insurance is well over 5 bills a years.. Get the pic...

And if you spun out in FWD, you'll definatly have problems in RWD

How much experience do you have in a rear wheel drive car? Also, what were the conditions at the time of the accident (speed, type of road, weather). The reason I ask is mostly to gauge how you might have faired in the same situation in the S vs. the RSX. Also, any mods to your RSX that might affect handling or performance?

 

You may want to look into any car with stability control. Perhaps the 350Z or the G35 would be more suitable.

 

It got 4 stars in EuroNcap. So Pretty safe when you do hit something.

 

5 out of 5 starts for side impact, 4 out of 5 stars for front impact. safer than a lot of cars, and safer than ur rsx.
