How safe are s2000's?
Another thing to remember is that no matter how many safety features a car has, smaller cars are always at a disadvantage in collisions (especially frontal) with larger cars.
The S2K's rating of 4/5 (frontal) and 5/5 (side) assume either a single car accident, or a two car collision involving two cars of the same weight.
If the S2000 were involved in a frontal collision with an SUV, rest assured the SUV's driver has a higher chance of survival.

Have you seen the crash test video?
S2000 Frontal Crash Test
Very impressive results for such a small car.

The RSX of course has the fixed roof, which *may* help in a rollover, but we've heard of S2000's rolling over and the occupants have luckily mostly been free of injury.

Yeah and at the same time, if my head was up over the rollbar, I can assure you that I would not have purchased this car. Even at 5'8" the top of the windshield gets in my view (blocks a lot of stoplights if I'm the first car at the lights)...

Welcome to s2ki.com! Personally I would say the RSX is a safer car (having owned both), however, it is not worlds safer.
The side airbags in the RSX are useless unless you get in that type of accident. And, if you look at the amount of bracing the S2000 has, I'd actually be confident to say that the S2000 would be safer in a side impact simply because of how our car is designed.

Your parents are going to simply think "small car, bla bla" but I think the S2000 is a very safe car.

Actually, Wall Street Journal published some statistics a few months ago that rated the S2000 five stars (the highest rating) for roll over protection.
