Which SUV is this? I like to get one?

J/K Yes and no!!! The test was performed so that both S2k and SUV hit the wall or non collapsible equipment. So I doubt that the suv is any stronger or less collapsible than the wall or the equipment. So Ft (force time) is better and safer for the s2k.

You are right in a sense when you refer to the higher mass in the SUV will exert more force for same decceleration in F=ma. But does it crumple better than the S2k?

Either way you are looing at this, I prefer the S2k over the SUV anytime. The s is nicer, more mobile to get out of sticky accident situation and has a very high safety rating compare to other roadster.

Brant, just curious... does the Miata have a LSD? I have no recollection of that being the case in my '90.

I've been spending some time studying the info on Neb's torsen T-2 diff... Quite an amazing device.

The 90-93 had an optional viscous LSD. Not as noticeable as a Torsen, but it does have one. I've also driven numerous vehicles with clutch and Torsen LSDs as well as several vehicles with full lockers in the rear.

The 94-present Miatas have an optional Torsen (or Torsen-type in the lastest ones) LSD as well. Guinness has the optional viscous LSD.

Brant. Thanks for the info, chief!

BTW, I pretty much agree with your earlier post. But, in general, I think that there are a lot of folks out there who just feel safer surrounded by a lot of sheet metal. Frankly, I think they're deluding themselves, but so be it.

I won't get started in a rant against SUVs / light trucks. I just hope that designers will design these beasts to better co-exist with automobiles in the future.

The first videos shows the cabin of the S2000 to remain in its original shape after a high speed frontal collision.

THe S2000 is also rated as one of the safest convertibles.
