S2000s normally get in the 20s for typical street driving. Are you doing a lot of stop-and-go or something?

But it could be worse. On track, I get about 8 mpg.
Not really no, my daily commute is 5 miles, one way, top up, 50% freeway, 50% traffic lights. Not sure what it could be. Tire pressure is good.

The only thing I can think of is the air filter, I've been meaning to check it. Would that do anything anyway? And 8 mpg, holy shit lol. Nice.

I cant believe you get less than 20 no matter what you do. I drive pretty hard and usually get 25-27 with 50/50 highway/city

I don't care about saving gas. Sorry. More VTEC, please.
ATTENTION: IF YOU GO FORCED INDUCTION AND SHIFT AT 9K RPMS, YOUR GAS MILEAGE WILL SUFFER!

But you'll have a whole heckuvalot more fun!

During a long interstate trip, seemed to get better fuel economy driving at higher revs. AP1 driven in low 60s (~3k rpm), got about 29.5 and lots of dirty looks; MPG rose to 31.5 when driven in mid 70s (about 4k rpm). ... Wondered if this was a fluke.

I get 21.5 mpg, my daily drive consists of 15 miles total each way, 1/3rd of that on the streets shifting at 3k rpm and the balance is expressway driving at 70mph with twice a day average hitting v-tech

Yeah, well that's not too bad, actually. At least that's regular pump gas. Some track cars need race gas, which means $7 or $8 per gallon.

On a road course, you spend the whole time going WOT right up to the corner, then turning all that energy into brake heat, and then going WOT to the next corner, etc.

doubling the rpm's (from 2k to 4k let's say) doubles the fuel use, but you accelerate faster.
Umm No. That only applies to WOT situations. ICE engines are most efficient at the rpm where peak torque is generated. Driving around at your peak torque rpm under light load *should* yield the best economy. I say should because efficiency also changes with load, and without a true efficiency map it's impossible to tell what engine speed and load condition will yield the best economy. Trial and error is really the only method unless you've got a cool little mpg gauge like I do..
