Default How tough is our soft top?

Well, i'm contemplating a hard top but the price tag is killing me! I live in South Carolina, so our winters arent very harsh. We dont see that much snow, but it does get pretty cold. Is the cold and occasional ice and snow, going to be harsh on my soft top? Or is it recommended to get a hard top? Thanks for any help!

Greg

I don't know if it would equate to comperable wear but the temps in TX along with the sun cause a lot of damage to plastic. I have had mine for 3 1/2 years and the top is still in good shape.

Is there any sort of substance we can put in our soft top to protect it from day to day wear from the sun and such other than putting a cover on it??

I've always figured that just moving the top up and down will cause significant wear. I have an interior cover(for those hot sunny days and when the top is down in the garage) and a hardtop. I figure the less I put the top up or take it down, the less wear it will have and the longer it will last.

you can use a suede brush to bring back some of the "nap" in the fabric... that way the fabric won't get all matted and be prone to tearing individual fibers

My question is: how tough is the soft top against a kitten? I have a cute little kitten who like to jumps on the car once in a while.

"Cute" isn't quite the term that I would personaly use to descibe a cat on top of my S's soft top. I'd say it would be more like somewhere along the lines of "frightening."
