Bought floor jack and 2 jack stands last night (or should I say nearly stole for $29.95 at Wall Mart). Going to paint calipers this weekend. I wont to do 2 wheels at time (driver/passenger or font/back). What is the correct procedure for lifting car and installing stands? Manual only gives 4 hard points (2 left, 2 right) to lift car. Looked under back and no point to lift car in center.
thanks,

There are center jacking points for both the front and rear, but most floor jacks can't get to them with first rolling the car on to a thick board or something to lift it high enough for the jack to get under it.

The rear center jacking point is the diff.

Good luck!

William,

For cleaning before painting the calipers...

Use some Simple Green with a plastic cup and a tooth brush to scrub the calipers for cleaning. Wipe it dry...let it sit dry for a couple minutes...and paint away.

Jacking procedure

Make sure to set parking brake. Put stock scissor jack under front-side jacking point. Raise car until the floor jack can fit under and get to the front-center jacking point. Raise car with floor jack. Place Jack stands under the front-side jacking points. Put floor jack under rear center jacking point (differential) and raise car. Put stands under the rear-side jack points. Now your car is on 4 stands.

Put towels on the stands and jack to avoid scraping the paint.

Do the above in reverse to lower the car. Don't forget to place the scissor jack on the side before lowering the front.

Go back and check the "jack stands...." thread from 2 days ago: http://www.s2000online.com/forums/showthre...?threadid=11404

There's also a link there to S2Ki's FAQ which shows a graphic of the jacking points for you. BTW, if you are only going to do two calipers at a time, measure out only half the paint and hardener (8:1 ratio?). After mixing, the paint only stays useable for about 1 hour. After that, it gets gooey very quickly, as it begins to harden.
