Save the 10k and put it towards a z06 (which is what i intend on doing in 5 years).
Why wait five years? In two years you will be able to trade in your S2000 + $10,000 for a used z06.

Who cares? If you still like your S, keep driving it. Since when do you care what others think?
But that's just you and me. I guess people are just too hung up on measuring how much testesterone they have and will always enter every "big dick" contest that comes along. Let's face it, all those satisfied Miata owners have never worried about the S2000, Z06, Porsche whatevers, etc, etc. They're just happy with what they've got. Are S2000 owners not as secure?

Our cars aren't the fastest on a straightaway and they haven't been in a long time.

Are they good enough? Hell yeah. It's not all about HP.

S2000 owners are rabid about their cars. They're so much fun to drive.

what matters is how fun it is to drive. i'd still buy this car again despite it's relative lack of power.

As a "drag racer" our cars were beaten by many other cars when they were introduced in '00, if price were not an object. Yet they have continued to sell due to their handling, relatively low price, and fairly limited numbers. To some of us. they also have a classic sports car styling that doesn't look "dated" over time. Since I got mine in "01, I have test driven a good number of newer model sports cars with faster straight line times. Personally, I always felt the handling felt crude by comparison. And then there was the "sticker shock!"

Thanks,
Richard

Well Porsche is right. Currently the S2000 only makes 109 hp per a liter, closer to 108 with the new 237hp rating. Honda once made a car that topped that, but they no longer do.
Is not. MY06 still has that lovley 9krpm 2 litre 240 hp engine.

Here.

I just read this for the first time. You have to take into consideration the s2k's looks. Its a freaking sexy car. All these new cars that are coming out are ugly as a fat woman in a thong. They are making new cars to "space like" imo. I dont think the s2k will be forgotten.....

I'm not sure how you can compare the new M3 (M4 if that is what they decide to call it) or the Z06, etc. with V8's to a 2.0L or 2.2L S2000 with a sticker price that is HALF of the other cars. Aside from that, you can always go with FI and that should make the competition a little bit closer.

I'm with both of you. Who cares... The love for the car is what should breed ownership. Unfortunately that is just not how it works for most people. They are just trying to look cool and r0x0r the socks off anyone they meet on the street, and if the s2k won't do it for them, its time to upgrade. blah.
