how's new s2000 sound system?
I never had a MY '00 or '01 (or even an '02 for that matter) to play with. The audio in my '03 is pretty weak. I have to crank it to be heard over any open car noise and it does distort pretty redily. I am planning to do the rear speakers from Lucid, but in the meantime I will just have to listen to that sweet, sweet music made by the exhaust! :-)

I don't know much about audio stuffs. Is it worth it to add an amplifier to the stock system? How hard is it to install an amplifier. I was thinking of putting it next to the spare tire.
I have ridden in my friends 01 and compared his system to my 02' . It is slightly better at best. The extra 10 or so watts does virtualy nothing to volume levels at highway speeds. The 02' tweeter pods do help the muffleing of sound by peoples legs being in front of the speakers, which is a bonus.
I have since changed head units, added rear speakers and swapped out the front speakers/tweeters with a Boston Accoustics set. THIS is what makes the difference. I can hear the music clearly at 80 MPH with the top down (no bass though). And the quality is way better. I think Honda pretty much doesn't care if we like the sound systems in these cars so you have to make your own. You won't regret it.

The only complaint about the stereo ( I have an 03) is that the sound quality itself is kinda crummy. It definitely is plenty loud enough for me to hear it with the top down driving at 80. I recall other people complaining that they couldn't hear anything driving that fast with the top down. Needs more bass and better speakers...but hey....i aint complaining.

Sound system in my '03 is decent and loud enough, but--like all Hondas--could benefit from better speakers. Tweeters may be OK, though. I have heard that most improved speakers have stiffer cones and need a more powerful amplifier. If anyone can suggest speakers that fit where they do in my S2000 without cutting and don't need another amplifier, please tell me! (I listen mainly to jazz and classical music.)
i just wish there was more speakers in the car to even out the sound i find myslef having to turn the bass all the way down so i can listen to some of my songs so that the speakers actually sound good.
