which s2000 to get?
i hear that 00 - 01 has grinding issue? sorry but i need more advise on which to get... im really leaning towards 00 or 01 due to no money to burn but if there is a whole lot of difference between those years, i might have to settle with 02... please help a future s2k owner out... thanks.
get an 02, you get aluminum in the rear headlights, fixed the 1-2 grind problem, upgraded tweeters in the sound system, and glass in the rear window which is a big plus! Do a search there are a few other small things I believe, nothing major though. If you wait till 04' is likely the 03 prices will drop aswell.
I had a chance to get one of the last MY2001's or a new MY2002. I decided to get a MY2001 because I didn't like the small size of the rear window, glass or not, of the MY2002. I also didn't like the silver trim rings around the rear lights and the trim in the interior.
I am not sorry in the least that I bought a 2001 model (MY2001). There was also a lot of speculation on whether or not my red color was going to be available.
My car will grind, if the driver gets lazy and doesn't push the clutch all the way to the floor or if the transmission fluid needs to be replaced.
By far, the most important TSB is the spark plug replacement TSB. Not having this one done can cause engine failure.
Some people claim that the MY2002's and MY2003's are slightly faster due to a different ECU. This may very well be the case, but I will say that with my CAI, I can pull away from them. The car is stock other than the intake.
There have been small improvements from year to year, nothing drastic. Find one in good shape that has been taken care of and buy it if the price is right. You can probably find a used one or two to test drive at the dealers in your area. It's better to test drive a used one that is broken in, it will give you a better feel for what the car can do.
