it sucks.. what happens everytime you hear that crao scraping? what is it touching? The chassis??
I don't know if your car has them, but AP1s have mud flap type things in FRONT of the front tires, and these stick down at least 1.5 inches below anything else on the car. So I always know when I'm close to bottoming out because those will scrape first as a warning.. and I do hit them all the time, but very very rarely go any further and scrape anything else.

At my friends condo I think I was hitting the frame on the sides of the car (like, right by the front jack points).

if you lower beyond a certain point it will not handle better. if your control arms are facing the sky it would not handle well. most people think the more slammed the better, not always true. it's not lowering that makes the car handle better necessarily, it's pretty much strictly for aesthetics.
Obviously going so low you screw up your suspension geometry is going to be detrimental to handling performance. That being said there are of course real advantages to a properly lowered car as well.

sounds like a change in driving style is all you need. i've had cars lower than that. you just have to learn how to drive it properly.

I said handling is one reason (not THE reason) to lower it (not SLAM it).

Post pics of these monster speed bumps if you get a free chance too. Maybe they're the size of curbs?

It looks like your tires are the wrong sizes, too much low-profile. I'm assuming you have 17" wheels. If so, I suggest you get 215/45 245/40 size tires. This will make your car a bit higher and look better.

Go VERY slow sideways until your front tires clear completely when you go over bumps.
