I would like to add to the description of German Highways. They are amazing. I currently live right near the border of Germany in The Netherlands. I spend most of my weekends at my girlfriends house in Germany. She went through an amazing amount of testing and training to get her license. And it cost a lot of money. I am not sure of the exact amount, but I would guess it was well over a thousand dollars. And they must be tested on stick shift cars, which I think is very important.

I think German drivers follow the rules more. Yes, the main section of the autobahns have no speed limit, but there are many, many sections that are not. Where there are speed limits, they are reasonable and strictly enforced by cameras. I don't like the idea of cameras, but the system seems to work here. Their speed limits are realistic. In the states, the speed limits are a joke and everyone knows it.

Her father runs a Porsche/Audi/VW dealership and always has the best cars. It is amazing to hop in an Audi A6 Avant and go 220 km/h on the highway. People get out of the left lane immediately to let you by. It is so organized. Most of the highways here are only two lanes per direction which does make this easier.

One thing I have noticed here is that many Germans don't like Japanese cars at all. Maybe it is just the ones that I have met. The funniest thing I have seen here is the Bon Jovi Edition of the Volkswagon Golf. Yes, it is real, and I see them all over the place. It says 'Bon Jovi' on the C-pillar in white letters. Crazy Germans.
