Default I was confused on my year for a sec..

So for the heck of it I Google'd S2000 Year Differences and from every site, from 2000-01 to 2002, the S2000 in 2002 received these changes:

- Upgraded Audio System
- Door Tweeters
- Two-Posts to secure floor mats
- Plastic rear window replaced with glass
- So on..

Mine on the title is a 2001, BUT has all of these lol I bought the car used and I looked and mine has all these listed. I was confused and CarFax'd the VIN and came out to a 2001 (no I didn't buy the CarFax) so I guess the previous owner changed all of these? Interesting since it made me think mine was a 2002..

How do I read my S2000's VIN? (courtesy of HiPER)
The VIN for our car and any car after 1981 is a 17 character code. For the S2000:

1. J (manufactured, Japan)
2. H (manufacturer, Honda)
3. M (passenger car, made in Japan)
4-6. AP1/AP2 (chassis)
7. 1 (coupe+manual transmission)
8. 4 (grade)
9. Check digit (this is a random number - search VIN on Wikipeia to figure this one out)
10. Y, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 (model year, y=2000, 1=2001, etc)
11. T, S (manufacturing plant, T=Tochigi, S=Suzuka)
12-17. Production Number

If that's your S, it also has AP2 wheels. Likely changed out by the owner. The only one that doesn't really makes sense is the two posts for the carpet... that's some dedication to upgrading

Oh not my S2K BUT, I do have the same exact look without it lowered. I put the AP2 wheels on myself.

The two posts really make a difference to prevent the floor mat from sliding. The floor mat moves around on the 01 and it's been enough that the rubbing has torn up the carpet. It doesnt show up within months but over the years it has worn and caused the issue.

OP, do you also have leather around your center console? 01's came with carpet.

If the previous owner went to some length to update the S that you now own, hopefully your oil jet bolts have also been upgraded, and even your intake retainers.

No.. Carpet around which personally I like better for some reason. As for the oil jet (never heard of this being an issue) and retainers he did not do BUT as for the retainers, this week hopefully I am having a valve-adjustment along with AP2 retainers installed.

Upgrading the center console to real leather was the second best modification I did to my 2000.
