Default I finally got my S!

Hello, Im a newbie here and i just got my 2002 serbing silver s2ki last friday. I just had a few questions for fellow s2k owners. I was wondering if I should take my car into a HONDA dealership and get the full inspection to see if anything needs to be replaced. The car has 38k miles so it is very new so im not sure if it is necessary. Also the car makes a "whistling" noise when the car idles and during acceleration. It sounds like its coming from the aem v2 coldair intake. When i acclerate the car also makes a "creek" noise which is coming from the rear driver. The guy who sold me the car said that the "creek" noise comes and goes and that its not the brakes. If anyone has ever had experienced any of these problems and have a solution please inform me. Thanks

Sang

38k miles is enough to destroy an S2000.
Not "very new."
Full inspection, not really that useful.
Compression / leakdown test probably cheaper and more useful.
If you had cash and really cared, you could pull the head and check out the valves and cylinders.
Whistling probably fine.
Accelerate from standstill and "creak" can be a loose axle nut.
Torque to 220 instead of 180.
Other creaks can be from wheel bearings or shocks.

CKit, don't be too negative man. 38k isn't that bad beside, Honda is known for durability. F20C doesn't breakdown that easy. Other then that, I agreed with everything else he said

BTW, congrats man! Welcome to the S family

Congrats on the purchase, porky, you made a wise decision.

Mine whistles a bit at start up, and when I am accelerating at about 2-4k. Small high pitched whistle. I dont know where it comes from as it does not appear to hurting anything. No creaking here though.

I know my old accord made a whistleing noise,
came out through my speakers, I think
it had to do with something in the stereo
not being grounded right.

I noticed it most, if I had the volume really low
and rev the engine.

Just a thought

whistling is the air intake.

if you did want to run the car through an inspection, you will get hosed at the Honda dealer. find a trusted local mechanic

I have had two intakes on mine a AEM CAI and now a K&N FIPK and they both whistle.

I think it is the Air Pump hole personally. The pump only operates when the engine is cold and then shuts off but there is hole in the intake for it I think when you accelerate the air going by it causes the whistle.

That is only my .02 cents though
