whistling is the air intake.

congrats on the new ride!

if you did want to run the car through an inspection, you will get hosed at the Honda dealer. find a trusted local mechanic
I thought the whistling was from the air pump throwing air into the Cat on cold startup for emissions reasons? Thats why you hear it turn off about a minute after startup..

Good luck with the S, I picked up my03 with about the same mileage... Car is just like new.. People ask me if its an 07.

thanks for all the replies fellas. Too bad i cant afford pulling the head out but i'll definitely think about the compression/leakdown test.

Also today i was cruising with my gf and i hear the "creak" noise again but only this time its worse. My car is just rolling at about 5 mph and its a constant "creak" like a bad door hinge. Can the shock rear shock be blown?

CKit, don't be too negative man. 38k isn't that bad beside, Honda is known for durability.

Sorry, didn't mean that in a bad way. I just didn't want him to get a false sense of security... we've seen people destroy S2000 engines in a very short period of time... not because of lack of durability, but more because of abuse.

I had this too..

Spray some white lithium grease all up on the hood latch...

It fixes it for about a month or 2, WD40 might work for a little while..

Try it out and let me know..

I purchased my S2000 a few months ago and tend to really "enjoy" it in a rev happy manner. I have owned many other hondas and never done any damage to them. I always make sure the engine is completely warm before really driving it hard, don't over-rev on downgears, religiously change the oil and dont dump the clutch for launches all the time. Besides this what else do people do to wreck an s2000 engine?

Does that whistlingnoise occur while the A/C on? I paid attention to mine today and I noticed that whistling while the A/C is on.

I know that something similar was happening to the Miata during idle as the A/C was on. Apparently, the compressor would make a diesel like sound, but when you pushed the cluth in, it would go away, People mistook the noise for a clutch going, but Mazda issued a service bulletin saying it was the nature of the car. Perhaps something similar could be happening here as well?
