I have an 04 and have never driven an 03 but...
I guess it depends on what previous car you came from.
For me, I drove a nissan V6 sedan for 5 years. I got the 2003 S2000 because i wanted a high revving 4 cylinder sports car. I wanted something drastically different from a silky smooth and very torqy nissan V6. If I have to revv the hell out of s2000 to get any power, then so be it. Thats why I go the car. I wanted a car that begs to be revved crazy.
But on the otherhand, if you owned a pre-04 S2000 for couple years, I can definitely see how you come to appreciate the 2004's.
But honestly, I think the pre-04's have enough power for daily drivability. I got 12,000 miles on my engine and the engine is broken in very nice. It feels very stronger than when it was brand new. And our engines are pretty smooth too.. Nobody says Honda Prelude doesn't have enough power as a daily driver. We got way more HP than the Prelude, right? Personally I have never felt the S2000 (no matter what model year) lacks usable power. (pre VTEC, of course.)

True, yes, previous car makes a difference.
I had a 340hp, 300whp and ~290-300wtq 1999 Eclipse GST, or FWD DSM. I wan't a fun RWD car that could HANDLE, I'm pretty much done with the straight line, I had tons of torque, way more than 95% of the S2ks out there, even more than a lot of the SC ones. But torque wasn't a big deal to me, if it was, what am I doing with this car? So I guess to me, loosing an extra 14 tq but gaining 1000rpms to rev is worth it...shit, I'm already dropping myself down by 130 ft.lbs. what will 14 more hurt?
