Default I just noticed this...

I was returning to my car and wanted to see how far away my remote would unlock the keys. At about 50 yards, I saw the interior light come on so I knew it worked. Just as I was reaching for the door handle, it locked. I thought it was because my hands were full and I had touched off the remote. Once I got home I tried it again and after a minute it relocked itself.

Yep, it's working correctly. On page 63 of the owner's manual, the UNLOCK is explained. "If you do not open either door <after hitting the UNLOCK button>, the light will go out in about 30 seconds and the doors will automatically relock.

You can turn that feature off if you want.

if you want even further range, try pressing the transmitter under your chin when you hit the unlock button. Range is improved dramatically. Pretty weird, huh?

I noticed once that if you unlock the car, get in the car, and do not put the key in the ignition, after about 15 seconds, the interior lights come on - evidently to help you find the ignition.

I found that out a year or so ago from a car salesman, and I was amazed. It really does work, with my chin at least. I wonder if it's my dental work that boosts the signal. I should corral my daughter, who is cavity free, for some rangefinding experiments with the remote.
