Default I need your help URGENTLY!!!!!

Hi everyone,

Handbrake problem:

I need your help, I need to know how many people have experienced a problem with their handbrake. Let me know if you have experienced the following situation:

Handbrake on full and gear in neutral, and then after awhile the S2000 has moved from its starting position for no reason at all after being parked up. This is a serious request for your help.

So how many people have had a problem? Let me know

Sorry I have kept it brief but I have to be careful what I say.

Thank you for your time.

Tim

Check ur rear brake pads.
The dealer can adj. the cable for your hand brake.
Or you can put in gear after you shut off your car.
I'm sure it won't move in first gear with the hand brake up.

Make sure the handbrake is applied fully and adjusted such that full force can be applied to the rotors. Otherwise, consider poltergeists!

Always park IN GEAR! Brakes can fail and you don't want your baby crushed.

Warm metal expands - If you apply just the handbrake, as the metal of the disks cool, the presure of the handbrake will diminish and result in the situation you're describing. Always leave the car in gear for extra insurance. Hope this helps. Cheers.

Additional info would help:
Where was the car parked? The answer could be different if it was parked in your locked garage vs. on the side of the street where other cars can "bump" against it. Or your friends could play pranks on you if it is in the open.
Was the car parked on a level area or was it parked on a slanted area (such as a sloping driveway)? Which way did the car move -- uphill or downhill?
How much did it move? And how did you determine that the car has rolled (I assume you mean it has rolled when you say it has moved)? Sometimes cars "settle" after being parked and they will move a little. Makes a difference if the car rolled across the street vs. less than an inch. Also if you used a "marker" to determine if the car has moved, is it possible that the marker itself moved instead of the car?
When you say "after a while", how much time expired between when you parked it and when you observed the car has moved? If you just parked the car and see it moving while you are still sitting in it, you may have problems with your hand brake adjustments.
Was the engine running when it moved? The vibration may cause the hand brake to come loose.
What was the car doing just before you parked it? As others pointed out, if the brakes were really hot, then they contract as they cool and that may cause the hand brake to loosen.
After you observed that the car has moved, did you check the hand brake to see if it was loose or still tight?
Is this a repeatable event or did it just happened once?

The more detailed info you provide, the better for us to "guess" what could have happened. But yours is the first reported hand brake problem I have ever read on this board.
