Hi. I own a 2004 S with about 1,300 miles. Although I have taken it to 6,000 rpm once or twice, so far I have been happy to rev to about 5,000 at the highest. I'm just taking it slow. But this raises a question.

If a driver never VTECs, will it harm the engine? Is it possible that those extra cams will become "frozen" or useless if never used?

Or is it possible that a driver could drive 26,000 miles without VTECing, sell his car to a very aggressive driver, and the new driver will be able to enjoy VTEC to his heart's content?

but anyways.... VTEC helps clear out carbon buildup, so doin it once awhile is good for the car.

 

revving the enigne up occasionally helps break up carbon deposits, plus your engine will never perform at it's full potential if you always baby the motor.
