i don't mean to be a jerk but if you never hit vtec, you don't deserve that car. i'm sorry.

i can't remember a single day while driving my ITR that I did not hit VTEC. Even if it was only a 2-3 min drive for an errand, i still hit it. Its very addicting, try it.

2-3 minute drive...i don't think your engine is properly warmed up to be hitting vtec.

I dont think the lobes will freeze up or become inoperable. They are still part of the valve train and recieving lubrication just like every other moving part. It does kinda pain me to think that you arent enjoynig the full potential of your s2k. Trust me, the engineering that goes into a vtec motor is nothing short of otherworldly. They are designed to produce power at high rpm, thats why they spin there so freely. Rev it! Enjoy it! Open it up! You arent going to hurt it. Just keep the oil changed every 3k and you will be fine

The answer is NO, you will not loose Vtec if you do not use it. Like xviper said, your engine will last longer if you do not run it hard like the rest of us do. Not to mention wear and tear on the rest of the car, and I can't imagine how much you will save on tires. Most of the time I do not run mine very hard either. About the cams, both of them are always turning, so neither of them is going to freeze up on you. It's your car and you paid for it, drive it however you see fit to and don't worry what anyone else tells you.

Purple Haze, I suggest you close this thread since you've gotten a couple of answers to your original question. You can do this at the bottom of this page under admin options. Since you are the author of the thread, you can close it.

It's just too bad that people cannot answer the question that was asked. You didn't ask for any commentary on what people thought of you for not driving your car hard. You didn't ask for any commentary on "what the car was made for", yet many people felt compelled to flame you for your FREEDOM and RIGHT to do with your property whatever you wish.

Close this thread before the excess testosterone grows hair on everyones' knuckles.
