Default I SLAMMED into the cold engine rev limiter...

Yesterday was a rough one for the S2000 and me. First I discovered a new ding, I hate those with a passion.

Later that night I was leaving my friend's house. I was making a tough left turn just taking my time (late at night with no traffic), when suddenly some dickhead in a full size pickup tries to run up on my ass. I punch it and hit that cold engine rev limit going full throttle in first gear. The engine braked so hard that I think it made my rear tires scrub the pavement for a second. :sigh: Could I have done any damage? I thought I smelled a burning smell (didn't smell like clutch) that was oil like in nature. It could have been the tires I guess.

Sorry for the pointless post, it helps me though to vent sometimes.

My GF just jot a ding repaired on her '04 Element. Frickin' people don't know how to open their doors! It looks like brand new again.

Sorry to hear about your luck!

I think your car will be just fine. You don't want to make a habit of doing this, but I'm sure once or twice over the life of the engine isn't going to damage it.

ohhh...try not to do that too much...i think what happens is there is no oil circulating for vtec to engage properly or something like that....i did this once when i had my integra gsr and it threw a cell...i was pissed cause i had to rest it with a damn wire hanger...lol

I had similar encounters with three different red pickups tonight (Friday night) on a long drive back from Baltimore, MD. What is the deal about pickups these days and why do they want to race or try and intimidate me in my S-2000? I used to drive a pickup and never considered it a race car. Is it the NASCAR Craftsman series???

i have done this twice it is a real surprise and i dont' recommend doing it again...i don't think it will hurt the car doing it a couple of times, that it was it is designed there for, so that you will not rev a cold engine too high. i have also hit the rev limiter a couple of times, that too is not a great idea but again designed as a safeguard, so you used it, that's all.

Don't worry about it too much, as mentioned its a safeguard...just don't over-utilise it

I did the same thing myself, on my first proper 'spirited' drive in the S2K...I guess I got a little too excited and forgot to let the engine warm up, punched it in 1st only to find the cold-start limiter...never doing that again...
