like the guys above said its all electrical, its a safe guard, when the ecu senses not enough oil pressure and low temp, it sets the rev limit way down, it wont hurt it a couple time but it will start to, your still goin hard before the limiter and with low oil temp and engine temps its not a good idea to drive that hard

From what I've read it's better to drive right away than letting it sit idling. I usually wait maybe 30 secs before driving off, and wait a few minutes more after I've had 3 bars before VTECing.
