Default i-VTEC coming?

Read an artice in Car and Driver about the upcoming Acura RSX. Apparently, i == intelligent VTEC, which adds continuously variable valve timing. It operates on the intake CAM only and, based on ECU info, advances or retards cam timing continuously through a range of 50 degrees.

Insights??

When is the S200 due for a redesign?

Any more details on the '02 model?

Regards, Mark

I believe it works on the intake cam only on the RSX base model. But it's on both the intake and exhaust cames on the Type S version. The continuously variable timing is suppose to help boost torque all over the rev range. I guess time will tell how much better this new breed of VTEC is compared to the current DOHC VTEC class motors.

Agreed on Type-S operating on both intake and exhaust.

And for those of us in the US... to an Acura dealership.

Variable Timing control (VTC) is on the intake side only for both cars. I just got back from the Ride and Drive intro so this is not a "rumor"

Yes, but it will be a intake side VTEC and VTC only.
