Default idle at 1000rpm?

I've had the oxygen sensor replaced at 16000kms, as the engine light came on. Don't know why the oxygen sensor wasn't working in the first place as I bought my car used. They(honda dealer) fixed it before the delivery.
And the car idles @ 1000rpm since I bought it, seems a bit weird to me as usually it's at 750rpm....wonder if the installation of the oxygen sensor has anything to do with it?

If my post is a little confusing or appears some error or whatever, I apologize, as this is my first post on this site.......

When they replaced the O2 sensor, they had to reset your ECU as well, but the reset process involves leaving the car in idle for 10 min. after it has been resetted so everything can be remapped. So maybe they just put in the sensor, reset the ECU but didn't idle your car long enough so that everything gets resetted properly?

I had an O2 sensor replaced on my civic and now that I find that my idle runs even lower.. sometimes the car feels like its stalling (but its an automatic!) ... so I'm not too sure if the dealer did such a good job.

This is a bit off-topic, but was your sensor replaced under warranty or did they make you pay for the part? My car is not even 3 yr. yet but they tried to weasle out of the factory warranty.

wow, didn't expect to see some replies this quick, anyway, thanks......
I've seen another S2k with 750rpm idle, that's why I'm wondering......plus it feels like it's eating up gas pretty quick, maybe I'm not used to the car yet, or I'm comparing to my previous 94 Integra GSR...

Hyper, the dealer paid for the O2 sensor and installation....
Maybe they didn't do a very good job...I never trust dealers anyways...unless you've got buddies working in there......but for warranty stuffs, what can u do.

well, they gave me a whole speech about how the part was NOT in warranty but they decide not to charge me out of good will ... but still hit me up for like 1.5 hr. in labour in total (2 visits) @ $75 / hr. ... (it does NOT take that much time to reset the engine light and reset the ecu, i should know cuz i've done it myself).

incidentally i c that you are from T.O. which dealer did u buy your s2k from?

An O2 sensor is part of the emissions controls and as such it is covered by warranty...even longer than the regular factory warranty period. I believe it's 50,000 miles for equipment related to the emissions systems.

Then again, what the hell do I know...

Idle speed varies depending on engine temperature and other factors. Mine idles anywhere between 750 and 1500 rpms.
