[QUOTE=dyhppy,Nov 2 2006, 07:00 PM]one of many purposes of such comparisons is to give those who can only afford a s2000 an idea of how much of the fun can be had without spending the money.

LOL, I haven't read all three pages of posts, so I'm not sure what the question is anymore. Didn't it have something to do with 500hp?

Seems to me that a 500 HP S2000 would be more like a Corvette than suits my taste. Not that the muscle of a Viper or Vette isn't fun, but I can have as much or more fun, more often, in smaller, lighter cars with substantially less power.

I know how jaded power makes people; Been there, done that. If I wanted to go down that road again I'd just buy a Ninja 1400, and then start turning loose more ponies as soon as the stock power levels got boring. That is the circle we always get into when we start chasing big power levels. More is NEVER enough. Once I figured that out, I lost interest in the chase, because I realized that I'd never be satisfied. When I decided that I didn't like chasing the moving target I went back to autocrossing and other activities that make power less of a premium. In autocrossing, the straights are short and speeds are low, so there is a limit to how much power is actually useful. At this point I really couldn't use any more, so the idea of 500hp doesn't really appeal to me.

Would the power band still be as peaky as it is now? If I have to give up the 9,000 RPM redline or peaky powerband, I'm definitely not interested.
