Default Im New to the S2000!!!!!

Hey whats up guys!?! My girlfriend just recently bought a S2000 and i must say it is a very sweet roadster! I drive a year 2000 Trans Am with over 500 hp at the wheels, i would like to do something to the S2k to get the hp up enough so the times are around 13.7 or so. I don't know much about Vtec or 4 cyl for that matter so i need all the help i can get. I have a friend with a s2k and he has a vtec controller, aem intake, and some other stuff not sure but he runs a low 13 here at our drag strip. I saw the Aem intake and it looks ok but it there a better one? Something like a ramair intake maybe? And what about Ported and Polished Cyl Heads, Springs, Pushrods, and Valves? I looked online and can't find any were where they sell aftermarket cylheads. And the cams are hella expensive for this thing!!! Like 500 something for one cam and u gotta buy two, my cam in my car only cost 200 and it cam with springs! Well let me know what u guys think i should do. Also is there a red light up shift knob. I have seen 5 speed indaglo knobs but i would like red glow 6 speed one for it. Thanks guys!!

And here are some pics of my car!

S2000's will run 13.6's stock, if you're a good driver.

Pushrods? Anyway, N/A mods have little affect on S2000's unfortunately, and they're expensive. As a roadster it's great, as a 1/4 mile car you will be disappointed I think.

That's a pretty bad ass T/A you got there, very nice.

This is not an insult: learn to drive it. Seriously- the s2k was not built as a stoplight racer so it takes very careful clutch and throttle modulation to get a good start. If you can launch well, you can get mid to high 13s stock. FI is pretty much the only mod that offers real gains. BTW- the T/A sounds like a beast!

There are a few guys around here, Chris, who've added NOS to their cars. That might work well at the strip, I don't know. Try doing some searches on the site and pop around in the "under hood" forum.

Welcome. Tell the g/f to come join us sometime!

Greetings from (snowy) New England

Look at it this way...

You are at (at least) 5.7L and getting well over 500hp. That may be close to 90-110 hp/liter

The S2000 is at 2.0L and at 240hp. This is 120hp/liter.

I would say that the S2000 is probably putting out more hp/liter than your T/A. Don't expect huge power gains from mods to the S2000. It was pretty much tuned from the factory. But you should be able to get a little extra hp from it with the right mods.

By the way, nice T/A. I bet that thing is faster than stink.

Replace the engine with a Ford 427 sideoiler.
Ditch the soft top mechanism.
Get surplus AC aluminum panels to replace the stock pieces.
Get a customized plate: "Hiss..."
