I always have a generic list of questions when buying a car. It is easy to forget the basics on the spot of conversation, so it is easyier to brainstorm before. Like others have said, be happy you found out the problems and could eliminate a bad car. Would have sucked to have bought the car too find out you are not happy with you purchase. Good luck and I hope you find a car soon. Mine has been in the shop for the last few weeks and I am craving a drive right now.

Well glad u didn't buy the car.

Shouldn't be this upset though, life is like this. There are bunch of ppl out there that are dishonest lol. I mean his purpose is to get rid of the car, it's very tempting for him to not mention the bad parts. Aren't all salesman like this?

Anyways keep looking. It's really worth it saving some taxes especially when you're buying car. I was fortunate to find a very nice person to do with transaction with me. He prepared all the documents neatly and provided me with all the information. The car was about 30k but we he helped me by saved more taxes by selling me the car for 15k when doing the transaction in insurance company and I payed the other 15k to him directly, so basically I just had to pay the 7% tax on 15k. Anyways, was a very nice person (he was driving lexus sc lol).

Also if you can get someone to do a gifting method with u, u won't have to pay tax at all when switching the ownership. Just get the seller to sell you the s2k for free (by using excuses like, u saved his life or helped him significantly, etc.) and pay him all privately. I know quite a few ppl doing that lol.

Anyways, hope you find a nice deal soon and good luck!

Kudos to you for being inteligent enough to hire a mechanic to inspect the car. Most would have just bought the car and found out the hard way 6 months later.

If your not buying locally, it may pay to shop Honda dealers on the theory that they wouldn't re-sell a car that was not in very good condition. Anything less ,they would probably wholesale out.
This would probably cost a few hundred extra to go this route but easily could be worth it.
You would also probably get some type of limited warranty.

Hey

Check out: https://www.carproof.com/Default.asp

It is canadian it reports all the things carfax does plus it reports everything canadian.

What is really useful is it reports Canadian Insurance records which are really useful. It is a little bit pricey but it gives piece of mind.

I would always have a mechanic look at it though as well.

Carfax isn't the "tell all" that people think it is. Many things wont show up there.
I personally have had a car with MAJOR (>$20,000) repairs from a single accident and NOTHING shows up on CarFax, says it's CLEAN. You can't trust a CarFax report.

Definitely have every s2000 checked over personally by a mechanic. If you have one locally, he'll generally look over for you shit for free.

In any case, I would probably look at a Honda dealer for one. It's expensive, but it's gonna have 100k mile warranty and if they sell you one that's been in an accident/etc (whole car repainted) and didn't tell you about it, it's a huge problem for them. That's why they go through such full checking of the vehicle.

I spent 2 1/2 years looking for mine. In the end it was worth it, but there were times when I thought about giving up.

People suck sometimes, I found plenty of cars that I wanted, but turned out to be messed up.

A friend of mine told me his friend was selling his Type-r. The motor was fully built with a 12+/1 CR. He had Koni Yellows, Stock rims, OEM lip kit, the car was beautiful. I found out that he had bought it off of my other friend who's brother slammed it pretty hard into a parked car, my friend demanded it be totaled but the insurance company refused and rebuilt it and he sold it without telling. I did the honest thing and told the owner what had happened to it, but felt like shit backing off after telling him I would buy it.

You have to do what's best for you.
