Default Improve exhaust

Hi,

I've been wondering this for a long time. A lot of people want different exhausts, mainly for soundreasons (not as much for performance). Isn't there some easy mod to make the stock exhausts give more hmmppf? It's a lot cheaper than a complete new one. I'm not inclined to give up on a perfect exhaust. There should be some easy kind of mod possible to this. Just like driving without the lid of the airfilterbox (great sound, but you loose lot off HP)?

Getting a lighter weight exhaust is good too...it reduces the weight on the rear driving wheels and gives improved response most notably off the line

Well.....You can drill some holes in the exhaust and I will be loud....(nasty loud) Please dont do it! You can get a CAI port into the air box for the sound......instead of opening it.

But self mod is not as good as a system.

Since most people like the aesthetics of dual exhaust, couldn't you simply block off the second exhaust pipe at the split so that you get single exhaust performance with dual exhaust looks? Would this work? I have often considered a single exhaust, but I like the look of my Neuspeed exhaust.

All that trouble and you probably end up stuffing the proper flow of the design and exhaust output ... You might as well get an N1 spec exhaust and remove excess weight from the OEM exhaust system especially the restrictive mufflers which add alot of un-necessary weight.

But for anyone to improvise on the exhaust system without replacing the standard mufflers ... It's best to leave it that way, nothing really matters or make a difference until you decide to go aftermarket for the mufflers in the least amount of aspect.

Well as the starter of this thread I have to tell you guys I already have an MG Racing CAI (imho superior to the Spoon or Mugen) and it did wonders to the sound (and butt-Torque) from 3KRPM to 5.5KRPM (and above). I'm just looking at a little bit more sound from idle to 4KRPM. It's not really for performance (have enough), I love the easthetics of the dual exhaust. Maybe make a single exhaust and a very light 2nd dummy will remedy that for some people. No ultimately I'm looking for a simple adjustment with enough impact. I'm convinced there must be some kind of possibility without the usual drilling of holes etc.

I say get smaller mufflers. On the same note as above, getting a real CAI, not just a CAI router will change the exhaust note. The AEM or any of the others will make the exhaust sound throatier. When I put on the RM Racing CAI many moons ago it really changed the sound of the car. A supercharger does the same thing as well.
