also does anyone know the answer to the VAFC question re. hp gains on s2k with aem cai?
One of our sponsors, "Rick's" sells these gears. They run about $800.00 and maybe another $400.00 - $500.00 to install. It will most likely void your differential warranty but ask your dealer to be sure.

I already gave you my answer to the VAFC question in my last reply. But if you are wondering about what it will gain you when combined with an AEM, understand that two different mods may not be "cummulative" in HP gains. The AEM might get you 5 HP and the VAFC might get you 10. The two together will NOT necessarily get you 15.

ALso keep in mind that Honda delivers the car pumping out 120 HP/liter. The Corvette Z06 gives you about 76 HP/Liter. The $700,000 Ferari Enzo gets you about 108 HP/Liter. So no you can't really really jsut bolt on cheap HP. The factory tuned it pretty well already. If you want to pay, you gotta play.

In the end, if you are looking for a drag car, this is a pretty poor choice. The driveline really won't stand up to that kind of abuse. You can do it, people drag race all kinds of cars, but there are WAY cheaper and easier cars to make into dragsters. Don't get me wrong, I want to get a SC some day too. I just want to make sure you know what you are looking at.

i understand and agre the s2k is not a dragster...but to have a 14second car and want to modify it enough to run 12.5-13.00 is only human.

Well, I guess I'm not human then. I traded in my 12.7-second Camaro SS for the S2000 and haven't looked back with regret...ever. If speed is your priority, and it appears it is, you probably will trade your S2000 within two years, mark my words.

I would change the words "only human" to: "typically american". Not bashing here, I am 100% American. It's just that the first words out of ALL my friends mouths are: What's the 0-60? What will it do in the 1/4? It's a cultural thing. I want my car to go faster too, but I want it to corner faster, I want to be able to get through road courses faster, and those desires are less tanagable or verifiable. I mean, a 1/4 mi is a 1/4 mi, but every road course is different. I can;t compare times with guys unless we have both driven the same track.

I understand the desire (I have already decided that after paying of the S in 5 years, I am getting a Z06) Just remember that with enough $$$ you can do anything. It's your car, and you can do anything you want to it. I just wanted to warn you that many others have gone the route you are trying to go, and have been dissapointed.

I think the story was a little exaggerated, and the details were VERY sketchy, but there was a guy here that was trying to make a 500HP S2000. Suposedly he had spent over $65,000 and the car was still not even running. (Plus the cost of the car mind you.) For $95,000 you could have all kinds of horribly fast high horsepower exotics. Z8, 911, Viper all come to mind. There is another story of a guy aiming for about 500HP. He was getting pretty close that last time I read a post. It's all in what you are willing to put into it.

IMO, a Vafc won't give really high gains with only a CAI... If you want to make the car more responsive, look into a nice header (spoon, toda, or "baller" amuse ) and throttlebody... Also, there are several Japanese companies that make cutoff bypasses that allow you to reach the supposed 160+ the car is capable of running... BackYardSpecial and Feels are two companies that come to mind for this type of product... I do agree with xviper though, if you are seriously looking to SC your s, and you are firmly set on this, you may want to start looking at mods that would benefit you while running F.I.

im afraid I may have come across with the wrong message. I love my s2k. It is the most exhilarating car I have ever owned(and I've had some fast ones). I will never sell my s2k, I love it. im not looking to make it a 10second funny car. to improve the overall driving experience is my main goal. I purchased the car for its uniqueness, its handling, the conv. ect....however i live in south Florida were there are few winding roads, mostly straight aways(light to light), and im just looking to make it a little more competitive in that arena. im just considering the SC, im not sure yet. so far im leaning towards 4.44 gears , cai , vafc , a nice sound system, and some 18" volks.
