Thanks for the help R Duff. I did a search in the library forum and found the TSB for 00-01 strikers. This TSB is not VIN specific and says that its for all 00-01 S2000's.

The only question that I have for you is that under Warranty Claim Information, it doesn't list anything for a car thats no longer under warranty. Would something like this be required to be fixed even if the vehicle is no longer under warranty, or would I have to pay for this at a dealership?

Thanks,

Daniel
there is typically some kinda goodwill thing. it depends on how cool the dealer service manager is. if you bought it at a dealer, take it to them. if it wasnt a honda dealer, see if they OWN a honda dealership somewhere.

[QUOTE=thetz99,Dec 5 2006, 02:59 PM]Use 1/4 inch plastic air tubing (aquarium air hose) on the hooks. It will tighten the pull and eliminate the noise.

I didn't have what I would consider insane wind noise, but I changed to the hardtop strikers anyway and my cabin got noticeably quieter. It's a really simple thing to do. If you know how to use a screw driver you shouldn't have to rely on the dealership to fix it(unless you really don't want to spend the $40).

Thanks guys I will try those things. I don't mind spending $40, but free is better than spending money.

For the aquarium hose thing, you're saying that I should put aquarium hose over the hooks that go into the strikers?

Yes just cut a 1/2 inch piece and pull it over the hooks with a needlenose. The width of the hose wall will tighten the pull of the latch.

Hey guys, I tried the aquarium hose method and it quieted down the noise a good amount but there is still a decent amount of noise. I'm sure it will still be relatively loud on the freeway.

Does this mean that new strikers should do the trick?

It's just a matter of getting a good seal all around (hopefully the top hasn't been warped in some way). Make sure all screws involved are tight. What's the condition of the rubber seals?

Are you sure it's the car and not you? I know first hand when I got my S2000 it was loud in any kind of driving conditions. On windy days, it's noticably loud and annoying. I realized it's just the car. my 01 was more loud then my 06, and a lot of it had to do with the plastic window. Even so, after week of driving my Mazdaspeed 6, I get in the Honda and think, wow, this is one noisy machine. It might be loud to you know matter what you do, or until you get used to it. This is why I do 90% of my driving with the top down, and I don't use it daily. Hopefully this excess noise is the strikers, and you can fix it. However, the fact is, this is a noisy car, expecialyl on the highway, and you can't totally avoid wind noise with a rag top.
